I decided 2 nights ago that I was incredibly fat and needed to do something about it. You can say what you want about 'Big is Beautiful' or whatever, but the fact of the matter is I'm morbidly obese. I'm 5'5" and weigh 218 lbs. I can't walk up stairs without needing to puff on my inhaler. I can't pull my knees up to my chest and paint my toe nails. Hell, I can't even balance myself anymore. I'm constantly stumbling around, running into things or knocking stuff over. I have reached a place I promised myself a long time ago that I would never go. Well, 2 kids and quite a battle with depression later, here I am. Fat. F-A-T. Fat. I feel ugly. My plus size clothes don't fit. I had to pull a shirt out of Eric's closet the other day to wear. I am miserable!!!
Like I said before, 2 nights ago I finally admitted to myself that my weight has gotten completely out of hand and I need to stop being lazy and making excuses and do something about it.
So, yesterday I started my more balanced, healthy, low carb, high fiber meal plan. I refuse to call it a diet because this is my lifestyle change, not some fab diet that I will give up on in like 3 weeks. I ditched the sodas and sweets and added more whole grains and veggies. I drank like 56 oz of water yesterday (which or coarse resulted in several trips to the restroom). First thing this morning, I reluctantly got on the scale. I've already lost 2 lbs in one day!! God I hope this trend continues. I've been told before that I have a body type that gains all over and loses all over. Apparently this is a good thing :-/
Anyway, I'm excited and motivated!! I have a very wonderful friend, Lauren B., who has her own website called www.yoursoulfitness.com that she asked me to go check out yesterday. Among other things, it has various tips on how to get in a few conditioning activities throughout the day. Well, I woke up about an hour early this morning, thanks to the storm that blew through, and decided to make the best of it and do some of her workouts. Having been a lazy bump on a log for quite some time now, it was challenging for some of them, but I did most of them before it was time to hop in the shower. I feel really good today too. I don't know if it was the workout itself, or the feeling of pride for actually getting off my ass, but I'm so glad I did! I talked to a few peeps yesterday about my lifestyle change and had several offers for workout buddies and accountability partners. I really felt encouraged and supported. I plan on posting updates to my journey as I go. So if you're interested, check in from time to time and see how my progress is going :-)
Hey! it's me Sabrina!
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy for you! ya, big is beautiful, but if you're uncomfortable with it because YOU are uncomfortable and not because that is what the world told you...it's different. I've been ridiculed all my life and NO ONE ever told my family or outside ppl to stop bullying me. My parents did nothing to stop the family from making me feel uncomfortable and unpretty my whole life growing up. I'm thankful I found a place in my life where i'm now confident and feel beautiful now. Especially after finding Ed. He always makes me feel like I'm the only woman in any room. THAT alone...reminds me how special and loved i am by him. But the time really has come for a lifestle change for me. Not because the world told me i'm fat. I'm just really curious what it's like to pull my knees up to my chest and not feel fat hanging off of me. Good luck, you'll be in my prayers!! It's time.
Thanks girl!
